Meetings
SSAPS has traditionally run one full day meeting
and two evening meetings each year. The all day meeting on the 3rd
November 2011 was a huge success, with great turnout, some excellent
presentations and plenty of opportunities for networking.
However, due to increasing pressure on
study leave time and funding, the committee has decided that we will not run
any evening meetings this year.
The next SSAPS meeting will therefore be
held on:
Thursday 1st November 2012, all day meeting
This meeting will again be held
in the Teacher building in Glasgow. The venue is extremely handy for
travel from all over the country, being minutes walk from Central and Queen
St train stations, and with ample car parking nearby.
The meetings are open to all grades of medical,
nursing, and allied healthcare professionals, and have been approved for CEPD
points.
COST
For the day meeting : Medical Staff £95, Nursing and others £30
Please
notify intention to attend meetings to Susan Smith to allow
appropriate catering arrangements to be made. Cheques
(payable to ‘SSAPS’) can be sent to Susan at

National Acute Pain Database
Those of you who attend SSAPS Meetings
will be aware of our desire to develop a national acute pain database, and to
that end, Dr Alan Hope, , Consultant Anaesthetist North Glasgow, presented a
prototype of a potential database at our Annual Day Meeting in November 2007.
Progress has been made on the dataset for
collection, and further refinements are expected following feedback received
from the audience at the October 2009 meeting.
The front page of the system can be accessed here.
